Bring The Nocturnals to Your Readers!

In Person & Virtual Author Visits (requires minimum book purchase)
Created in partnership with the NYPL, Tracey Hecht's Read Aloud Writing Workshop explores how she used animal science, short chapters, and dialogue to develop her author voice. Young writers will learn about the nighttime world that inspired her, how to develop their own voice as writers, and how books are made.

In the interactive workshop for ages 5-12, readers will learn about:
  • Inspiration: What helps you write a book?
  • Character Development: How do you create strong characters? How did Tracey use real-life animal physiology to develop The Nocturnals?
  • Voice: How do you make a story distinct and unique?
  • Book Production: How does a book actually get made?

A K-6 All School Read Pick! The Nocturnals offers a unique opportunity to engage every reader at every level, along with their families, by having whole-school communities read The Mysterious Abductions together!
