Read on SLJ: New Jersey School District & Public Library Work Together To Create Student Opportunities

We are thrilled to share School Library Journal's October feature story, “New Jersey School District and Public Library Work Together To Create Student Opportunities.”
Fabled Films Press collaborated with Lee Penna of the Secaucus Library, Felicia Lott Chetrit of the Secaucus Public School District, and Mayor Mike Gonnelli to promote family literacy and build a community of readers in Secaucus, New Jersey.
The partnership included an All-District Read–funded by the mayor, PTA, and community partners–that distributed more than 1,000 copies of The Mysterious Abductions to students and culminated in a reading celebration with author Tracey Hecht at Family Literacy Night; storytimes featuring The Slithery Shakedown for first- and second-grade students at two elementary schools; and World Environment Day celebrations, where children learned about nighttime animals through The Nocturnals: Unique Adaptations of Nighttime Animals.
Fabled Films Press was proud to provide event support, educator guides for teachers and parents, and turnkey activities for every event.
This was a perfect opportunity to partner with ‘The Nocturnals,’ and it just kind of all fell into place, […] It was nice to have that partnership. I don’t know if I could have done that on my own without the support of the library and [Fabled Films].
– Felicia Lott Chetrit, Supervisor of Elementary Education at Secaucus Public Schools
